This is worst crap and Ive had enought. Do not buy it ever.
It is so unrelaible. And it was so from day one up until now. Nothing changed. And never will. Its a scam. You guys should sell carrots on village market or clean toilets, maybe paint walls. But get tfo this high tech business you are not qualified to do.
Ive had all the problems that were noted in this forum: sudden power offs, hissing, no audio in headphones, unresponsive or hypersensitive keyboard, touchpad that made every laptop I happen to use after librem feel like nextgen premium technology (to this day when showing someone something on laptop I feel retarted when using tochpad).
It is a gambling game each time I close the lid - will it die this time or not? Will I have to setup my workspace again ASAP?
That is unpredictable. So is charging - you never know if it will charge, or stay at 20 % to surprise you before you have to go.
I didnt mind all of this at the beginning but so many updates passed and major bugs are still there.
So, I’m genuinely curious, does anybody know if this is a model thing with L14’s that is causing these issues? Hardware vs software?
There seem to be several threads like this recently – people who are just really upset. But I’m literally writing from my Librem 14. I use it every day, and I’m using it right now. I have literally none of these problems described here. The biggest problem for me is the extremely awkward choice of where to put the right shift key. That’s been like the one main issue, and I never really wanted to complain about it much because it’s my fault for not researching the keyboard design in advance of buying the device. But it’s also a bit weird to me that you didn’t complain about something so major in your post.
So anyway, is this problem folks like you are having with L14s a new thing on L14v2 models, or a problem with older models from before mine (mine was one of the last L14v1s and they literally put out the blog post about Intel wifi while my order was in progress)?
I want to know because it would help me understand what to avoid if I ever recommend this laptop to someone, because mine is somehow totally fine
Apologies, I must have been thinking of Librem 14 v1-02. What I mean is that my model was sold to me before the switch to firmware jail and Intel wifi.
