AFAIUI, @Poseidon wasn’t talking about PureOS, Librem 5 or even any other device from the current generation of GNU/Linux smartphones.

For the record though, King’s Cross is named “Terminal” and has and always had a generic terminal icon in PureOS

A very disapointing mail. No “Firm” delivery date (as promised in the mail from September).

Included is a link to the main site pointing to the delivery schedule for all products, that’s about it.

We are continuing to ship Librem 5 phones to backers, and we are excited to deliver your Librem 5 as soon as we produce it. Our team around the world is working diligently from chip sourcing to continuous software improvements to produce more phones and make the experience as exceptional as we can

We will keep innovating both on our software and hardware offerings, and are hiring. We will keep you informed regularly on how we are doing with the fulfillment of your Librem 5. We will be updating this product availability chart diligently.

Deliveries will continue over the next 12 months in batches as we spot-buy some of the harder to find integrated circuits to produce additional boards, the primary parts blocker for producing tens-of-thousands at once is the CPU availability which if bought today still has 50+ week lead-time, while it may arrive earlier (the industry is very short with inaccurate lead-times) we cannot count on spot-buying entirely nor can we count on parts arriving early in abundance. The ongoing supply for semiconductor shortage is intensifying. It is great to see some of you who ordered the phone early are sharing the news about getting the Librem 5. While deliveries are continuing, it will be directly tied to parts availability.

Advancing all the areas that we are improving to create a free and secure future takes immense investment, time, and patience; we thank you for seeing the value we bring (in software, services, and hardware) and being as patient as possible in the hardware delivery during these unprecedented times. This is somehow really frustrating. Not because it takes so long (at least for me that’s not so important). But is it really that hard to keep within an anouncement timeframe? Giving status what parts are that hard to source? How many they are getting? Im thinking of PINE64 and their really transparent communication.

Seems to me that their best plan would be to start working on fir and see if they can get on some components that are not in short supply.

Evergreen is not even a finished product yet, when Fir’s development will be finished, this crisis will be far behind us.

This morning I received an email from support.
It’s a response to my question about not receiving the promised second mail in September.
Here it is:

Dear …

We understand the delay on the Librem 5 has been longer than expected. We are making efforts to improve our communication. We will be sending a monthly update to ALL backers explaining the bigger picture that affects their delivery. The first one is being sent as we speak. Additionally, individual emails are being sent to those batches that are awaiting shipping or are closer to delivery. Availability of all products can be viewed at https://puri.sm/products/librem-5/#availability which we will be updating regularly. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

For your specific pre-order (January 2018) ETA is most likely within next 2-3 months, but we will provide more details a bit later.

This is interesting, My order is from 23rd Oct, 2017 for Librem 5 Evergreen and I received the more generic email like others. I do not have any such email. So, not sure what is going on …

Strange. I looked everywhere and I couldn’t find terminal. It may be fine device for you but for the average user it would be unusable. I consider my self a power user but I’m no sys admin or developer. Seriously the L5 had better user experience out of the box than this BQ tablet. I didn’t know Canonical cancelled the project. So it’s practically dead now. Time to move on…

See it positive, the 6 to 8 weeks and your post is now 4 weeks old. Hope you got it in 2 or 4 weeks, this year.

However here in Europe i see more and more Industry’s stuck again. Due to supply or another Covid-Working-Lockdown. Or because of resource issues… caused by a climate catastrophic a war a covid embargo or a political disaster (Brexit). Its frustrating.
