I’m a FOSS pragmatist myself, not a purist. Even you seem to be somewhat of a pragmatist sometimes (you mentioned in past threads that you use Android and Windows. You’re even more pragmatic than me in that respect!) I can’t see why PureOS should exclude a pragmatic non-purist like me who loves FOSS but happens to require Firefox for some reason. I think PureOS should remain a welcoming place.

Here, i love free Software and Linux. And today it is attacked by LLMs and Community is kind of pushed in a stress level. However i am sure that even the LLM would choose and have free software like a Tor Net to use and search for Information on some free internet.
Because it is like math and not personalized, it is the future. Firefox is some Big exhausted player and if A.I. got further it will not play a role for attaching information at all. Surveillance Capitalism on Computers/Operating Systems eat it all to feed LLM’s and Shortcut this soon.
However have a free not personalized access to information have a higher Value. And because of this free Internet, free Speech, free Math, knowledge about how to compile and create a Computer with some free software, with no easy exploit by LLM, will keep you privileged.

carlosgonz, i think you are kind of right with firefox in default configuration. But in some hared individual configuration with AdBlockers too its kind of some last best standing. Best way is to have some not trivial encoded encryption for some public out there. But this is not so easy.. even with Tor Network. # But as some common interest, even for the intelligence folks - we have to have some upper level shared grounds! - out of the Range from A.I. which can be some Religions one..
I don’t know how exactly, but Crimson made Chromium as bad as Firefox. Chromium used to play videos in Byzantium well, now it is as laggy as it is in Firefox
I just do not use youtube, and if i have to i download the video to some other computer somewhere in the internet with a good connection - which do not belong to myself and watch it there or just read some LLM or friends short consilodation.
Its like the first OS or the first Editor.. every tool got to complex because of others and we have to .. re calibrate. So try to use curl and some rules and math to get your information collected and served to you.
Firefox is still on the good side compared to windows and google with chrome. But the environment shift too fast for Artificial personalized collected information. The internet with web pages is a thing of the past likely.

I couldn’t tell ya… I disabled that search engine selector in the address bar when it first landed. I prefer to search in the dedicated search bar I added and customized from my listed search engines.
I looks like some tracking info is being sent to Wikipedia, and if that’s true, why?
Now I just visit sites directly and do a search there, like we used to do in the old days before the Surveillance Capitalism and Enshittification wrecking balls started fully swinging.
If I want to search Wikipedia (or Wikipedia in other languages), Wiktionary, OpenStreetMaps, or various others, I use the dedicated search box I’ve added to the toolbar, where I’ve loaded those specific sites. It’s easy to right-click on one in the drop-down list, and open it in a new background tab.
Exactly what expected? I don’t see anything special there, a phrase “cat” is sent to Wikipedia’s search page, which redirects to the article that happens to have this exact name. It would probably show search results otherwise.
Why “sourceid=Mozilla-search” is necessary in the Firefox search template for Wikipedia when Wikipedia does not pay Mozilla for visibility? Why Wikipedia needs to know that the query comes from the search bar specifically, rather than that the page is viewed in Firefox, which is communicated separately by the browser user agent string? My guess is that it could be just for consistancy with other search templates. Or Wikipedia wants to know how many users use the search bar in Firefox for some technical reason, which I don’t know.
The Special.Search was not special. Its like suggested just some additional Frame to adjust the client which tossed it and the Search by itself. Because its just another parameter for the URL. Search engines do this too, to some linking information in URLS.
And because of this its important to understand the Web and the computers. If you are looking for the Wikipedia just try to address the URL like https://en.wikipedia.org plus the string /wiki/ plus the Page or search Term directly, instead of using search engines. Because the last one will waste more planet energy to address your answer. Its like using some A.I. engine instead of a book where you know on which page you find your answer or use some calculator. Do not use A.I for some 4*10.5 calculation.
So i did a trainer test today on FF153esr before to bigendian support patchsets for gicecat.
So FF size is 4gibs, so on compiling it quick flooded the ram by 50Gibs with all the superpower9 cpu(still no sforza) but i not sure if ccache helped to massive flooding.
