My Librem 11 arrived today!

Have you or anyone tested that?

I mean basic hardware boot should be OK but you can always get into trouble with some of the more niche hardware components. If you have time, you could try a Ubuntu Live Boot for us.

i was interested in ubuntu… just in case. pureos is ok but I’ve used ubuntu longer

Thanks for sharing. I would be interested how much the tablet weighs with case/keyboard and pen and how the pure tablet weighs.

Pen 13g
Tablet 564g
Tablet + Pen 578g
Case/KB 319g
Everything 897g

Scale truncates not rounds.

I think it’s pretty simple:
They were “basically ready” and didn’t want to hold back the announcement any longer.
But final adjustments (bugs/image/flashing/packaging…) “unexpectedly” (as always) took a few days longer. :man_shrugging:

Purism do allow and support coupon trading from old Librem5 orders.

  1. I thought you blocked me. What gives???

  2. Good link. However, this link did not describe the process of “transferring order and then taking coupon instead of phone” … this link described the process of “taking coupon instead of phone and transferring coupon”. Same result, but different thing.

My tablet arrived last week. Yay! I’m very excited. As has been discussed in a couple of threads here, the chassis is thought to be a ready available, off the shelf, model used to get tablets out the door quicker. I like the case and keyboard design. However, I’d like to find another case style where the keyboard can be set aside. As it is thought to be a common chassis model, surely there are other options to try. Please share if you know of any.

Many Thanks!

So question, is the internal hardware closer to a librem 5 then there computers and same for the software its a bigger screen and if that is true than this is basically a librem 5 with a tablet display with a slightly better processor? and it comes with a keyboard and pen, all for the same price? am I missing something here, please correct me if I’m wrong.

can add a SIMcard or eSIM to this device?

I think the answer is “no”.

For a start, the tablet is x86 CPU whereas the phone is ARM CPU.

I think “no”. No mobile network capability at all, as I understand it. But you could use an external dongle or you could “tether” it with a phone (e.g. via WiFi).

The Librem 11 also has a NVMe SSD, so you can upgrade it unlike the Librem 5 (USA/Liberty) which has a fixed eMMC capacity. The back of the Librem 11 is not easily removable, so upgrading the NVMe SSD will require some finesse.

There also seems to be no mention of a PGP smartcard reader on the Librem 11.

I guess the expectation is that you would use the Librem Key (if not now then in the future).

interesting because on the video it shows the same interface with apps as the librem 5 showing the messaging and calling apps

Chatty could likely still be used as a Matrix client, but probably not SMS/MMS.
Calls - no clue why this would be needed for a L11.

you can use it as a SIP client. And you can disable in gsettings the loading of the modem manager plugin to just use it for SIP.

You can use it as a xmpp, and matrix client. But actually there are folks that use chatty for SMS on laptops, either on devices with an internal modem+SIM card slot. Or with a USB modem.

Some folks even wrote reviews about that specific part:

I ordered my L11 two days ago. Is there a special forum for the L11 like it exists for my beloved L5?

No, the closest category is Librem, which is the parent category of Librem Key, Other OSes, and Phones (Librem 5).

Hi, could anyone that has been using the L11 for a few days please comment on:

  • is it usable with 1 or 2 external displays? Slow?
  • have you got it working with a Librem Key?
  • are the ergonomics of the keyboard reasonable with larger hands?
  • is the keyboard quite noisy?
  • does it work well with external mouse via bluetooth?
  • have you tried a minimal distro install such as Fedora Sway and did this improve battery life?
  • does it run in vertical mode with an external keyboard and mouse?
  • if the chassis is an off-the-shelf model, as has been mentioned, have you found any accessories that are available outside of Purism?

Thanks

edit: typo

Yes, really need a forum category to be created for discussion that is specific to the Librem 11. @joao.azevedo ?
