New Post: Librem 5 Update: Shipping Estimates and CPU Supply Chain

Please stop politics and division. This forum is one of the places where you can escape from that.

Purism is a social purpose company which aims to “provide freedom, privacy, and security” through hardware, software and services. All is politics here.

To come back to the subject, still no mail on the horizon?
Has the mailing campaign started?

I think the vast majority of people are reasonable and understand the situation. It usually the small minority that talks loud and emotionally. Smart people understand the problem and do not waste time accusing others. I am commenting because I see that there is a need for the other side view. I understand that it is hard to build what Purism is attempting, and even if they would fail, I would be grateful for their attempt to try to make it. People who talk loudest do not always represent the majority.

I am incredibly grateful for Purism Team trying to create beautiful products that give our freedoms-powers back. Projects like Purism gives me hope that there is a better tomorrow. Thank You!

Yeah. You are smart, you are reasonable, you talk normal and you understand the Purism language.

Your passive-aggressive tone tells me enough about you

Please don’t provoke each other. Not only is it against the forum rules, it also doesn’t lead to interesting discussions.

Yes, to come back to the subject …

Has the shipping estimate email gone out for the remaining crowdfunders?

Asking for a friend.

Not yet, 26th September 2017 order here.

There are some people here who are not Moderators but think they are and just love to argue , judge and passively aggressively insult those who post things they don’t like or agree with. Don’t have to mention names as they know who they are.

Please don’t stray off topic. Also, I can’t help but notice that you’re doing exactly what you describe. Next time you are passive aggressive I’ll keep your post hidden after it’s flagged.

Yay, just got my delivery announcement from asking me to confirm my delivery address! I am going to get a #librem5 a mere 3.5 years after paying for it . Excited. P.S. before you ask, I backed on Sep 27, 2017.

So far, it looks like 500 phones / month.

Note that it does not mean that 5000 phones will be shipped in 10 months
The rate is increasing as Purism set up their delivery services and verifies the hardware.

@Kyle_Rankin I very much appreciate the updates about what progress has actually happened, and what the next steps are. It seems to me that most of the disquiet on the matter of updates has come not from news in general but from differences in interpretation about whether future dates were given as promises, estimates or complete guesses. I never really took any of the future dates as absolute promises, so I’m fairly contented with how it’s all gone. I don’t want to get into assigning blame for the differences in interpretation.

I think a lot of the disquiet has also come from mismatched expectations. i.e. specifically when Purism said Evergreen would start shipping in November I think a lot of people probably assumed that meant the entire batch and backlog would be produced and shipped around then (within a few weeks max).

I think the idea that multiple production batches over multiple months would be needed to ship the entire batch hadn’t occurred to a lot of people at all at that point, though it’s since become obvious that for Purism, that was always going to be the case and perhaps was thought so obvious, it wasn’t highlighted enough in communications.
